چکیده

Abstract Background Sika deer, Cervus nippon , were originally introduced to South Korea from Japan and Taiwan for commercial farming purposes. Unfortunately, they released into the wild during religious events have since begun impact native ecosystem species endemic Korea. The study of activity patterns can improve our understanding environmental non-native their association with sympatric species. Using camera traps, we studied diel seasonal sika deer quantified temporal overlap mammalian in Muljangori-oreum wetlands Hallasan National Park, Results A total 970 trap recorded five nine locations camera-trap survey. Siberian roe ( Capreolus pygargus tianschanicus ) had highest number (72.0%), followed by (16.2%), boar Sus scrofa (5.0%), Asian badger Meles leucurus (4.5%), Jeju weasel Mustela sibirica quelpartis (2.0%). bimodal throughout year, peaks spring-autumn twilight, day night time winter. Relating daily other species, expressed degree (∆ 4 = 0.80) while demonstrated lowest 0.37). Conclusions Our data show that are a crepuscular variations patterns. Additionally, identified differences between different mammals found higher twilight hours.

detection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts

in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...

Seasonal and year-round use of the Kushiro Wetland, Hokkaido, Japan by sika deer (Cervus nippon yesoensis)

The sika deer (Cervus nippon yesoensis) population in the Ramsar-listed Kushiro Wetland has increased in recent years, and the Ministry of the Environment of Japan has decided to take measures to reduce the impact of deer on the ecosystem. However, seasonal movement patterns of the deer (i.e., when and where the deer inhabit the wetland) remain unclear. We examined the seasonal movement pattern...

Description of a new species of Potamonautes MacLeay, 1838, from the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa

A new species of freshwater crab, Potamonautesisimangaliso sp. n., is described from the western shores of False Bay, Hluhluwe, within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa. While bearing a superficial resemblance to Potamonauteslividus, the new species has been found to be genetically distinct, diverging from the former by 7.4-7.8% in mtDNA. Potamonautesisimangaliso most closely resemble...

Seasonal and Diel Activity Patterns of Eight Sympatric Mammals in Northern Japan Revealed by an Intensive Camera-Trap Survey

The activity patterns of mammals are generally categorized as nocturnal, diurnal, crepuscular (active at twilight), and cathemeral (active throughout the day). These patterns are highly variable across regions and seasons even within the same species. However, quantitative data is still lacking, particularly for sympatric species. We monitored the seasonal and diel activity patterns of terrestr...

Two sympatric new species of woodlizards (Hoplocercinae, Enyalioides) from Cordillera Azul National Park in northeastern Peru

We report the discovery of two sympatric new species of Enyalioides from a montane rainforest of the Río Huallaga basin in northeastern Peru. Among other characters, the first new species is distinguishable from other Enyalioides by the combination of the following characters: strongly keeled ventral scales, more than 37 longitudinal rows of dorsals in a transverse line between the dorsolateral...
